For every random seed, the program searches for NFUs in lots of 100,000, evolving every randomly generated rule for 4 evolutions. The results are then filtered based on the universe properties to focus on NFUs that meet the following criteria:
This filtered set (typically between 500 and 2500 NFUs, but will vary by search) is then put through the NFU creation process where it gets dynamically evolved and stylized. The result set contains a variable number of NFUs.
Each search will use a new random seed creating all new universes conforming to roughly the same statistical distribution. The overall computational characteristics of all universes produced to date have resulted in global rarity statistics that will be uploaded here shortly...
I am not a blockchain developer nor am I a full time scientific researcher. I don't want to pay some NFT service a bunch of ETH to drop and gameify these discoveries: they are interesting in their own right, and I'm going to look for them anyway so why not share? (Also - laziness is real).
If anyone is interested in taking up this project for science in a more industrial way - please reach out to me at the.non.fungible.universe@gmail.com.
In the meantime I'm doing this the old fashioned way - call it artisan NFT creation. I've started with an initial 20 NFUs upload to Openseas to start, and will add a few new uploads daily (3-5) until I've hit 1,000 universes. On manual inspection these computational creatures have certain emergent properties and fall into broad categories that are more or less rare / interesting / beautiful.
There are also very rare coincidences I've discovered that result in 'Anomalies'.
Finally - certain universes with an emergent dimensionality between 3 and 4 with emergent space / time / particle like substructures might be prototypes for this universe. These are very rare cases indeed but will be labeled as such as they are discovered.
The minted rarity statistics are available for each NFU at https://opensea.io/collection/nfus.
I have no way of knowing what type of NFUs will emerge from the next search. They have an in-born rarity based on the mathematical operations of the NFU creation process. Certain resulting forms and styles will be more common / familiar, while others will be exceedingly improbable to emerge.
More importantly - NFUs are maybe the first NFT that represent the discovery of scientifically / mathematically interesting artifacts in the infinite, computational universe.
The truth is - I have no idea what we're going to find...
